Nicola Twynham is a textile artist, maker & arts project manager based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Working with textiles, she currently enjoys experimenting with techniques and creating work that draws on local history. She explores the industrial Northern town landscapes in her work and is drawn to the social and physical changes of locations.
Nicola enjoys drawing with stitch by hand and using the materials to help her add depth and colour. Combining painted and manipulated surfaces, her art creates visceral viewing experiences for the viewer.
In other areas of making, Nicola works to create vibrant, interesting and fun hand-crafted pieces of jewellery that she sells through her Etsy shop and social media.
Nicola is also a Member of The Making Space in Huddersfield – a volunteer driven organisation that provides opportunities for cooperative working and other opportunities in Huddersfield and the surrounding areas. She is passionate about building communities and bringing individuals together to engage in culture and the arts.
